Hello there!
My name’s James McArthur but I’ve been called all sorts over the years: Jamie, Jimbo, Jimbob, Jimmy, Jim Lad, Jay, Mackie and probably a bunch of other stuff behind my back. 😂
A popular one over the years has been Jamesie. It stuck after a mate and I used to do Rab C Nesbit and Jamesie Cotter impressions. When my name wasn’t available as a URL, I snapped that up instead.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a bit of a weirdo. My kid’s certainly think so and my wife says I’m special. I like to take that as a compliment but I’m not 100% sure it’s intended as one.
I’ve always been a little repelled by labels and boxes, and naturally drawn towards freedom, exploration and expansion.
Sayings like:
“Better to try and fail than never to try at all.”
and
“In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.”
Just really resonate with me and stick in my mind. And I believe that if something resonates, it’s worth pursuing.
This has led to a somewhat unconventional path and me doing a whole bunch of random stuff.
I always thought a lot of it didn’t overlap and needed to stand alone but I’ve realised that it’s not random and disconnected; it is all connected by the same central themes that run through everything I’ve done and plan to do.
One of those things is the urge to experiment, document and share. That’s what this is and for the first time, I’m going to start tying it all together.
